The Lactalis Group is a family-led company guided by a passion for dairy that was founded in 1933 by André Besnier in Laval in the west of France, the heart of French dairy country. Parmalat SA had been part of the international Lactalis family group since the Lactalis Group acquired a majority share in Parmalat SpA in 2011.

The Lactalis Group took 100% control in 2019 and the local name change to Lactalis South Africa was the final step towards fully integrating the South African business with its international parent company that has a rich history and tradition in bringing the enjoyment of dairy products into people’s lives.
